I had no idea Adelaide had a 4D cinema experience!
At Event Cinemas, moviegoers can experience films in 4DX, where the cinema becomes part of the action. The experience includes moving seats, water sprays, bursts of air, lighting effects, and other sensory surprises that make you feel like you’re inside the movie.
The best part is that this is a much more comfortable way to enjoy an immersive cinema experience then 3D experiences. So if you usually end up with a headache after watching 3D movies this is perfect.
I watched Project Hail Mary in 4DX, and the experience was incredible. There was a real mix of audiences there, from children to older moviegoers, and the moving chairs genuinely made it feel like we were being transported through space alongside the characters.
And surprisingly, the tickets aren’t outrageously expensive either. Prices generally range from around $30–$36 depending on whether you’re a Cinebuzz member.
The chairs also don’t move constantly, which was something I was worried about before going in. The motion effects are mainly used during action-heavy scenes, so it never became overwhelming. If you’re someone who gets motion sickness easily, it’s probably still manageable for most of the movie.
